Optical illusion #1: The Ball

This time I'd like to show you an amazing optical illusion I've recently found.

Here's the link to it: CLICK ME!

First, take a look at the ball. It will appear to fall straight from top to bottom.
Then look at the blue circle in the top right part of the page. The spinning disc will seem to change
its fall direction and "fall" leaning towards the left side.
To be honest, I think that it's about tricking your brain into thinking that the ball is constantly moving, while it's not. What is your opinion about the way this illusion works?

  1. Haha, really like that one, I think its just some trick with my brain, I have no idea how it works in detail though.

  2. I love stuff like this. I remember reading something somewhere about how the color magenta doesn't actually exist on the color spectrum but our minds create it. Google magenta isn't a color if you're interested.

  3. It's fun to mess around with the controls as well and see how it changes.

  27. That's pretty neat! The longer you stare at the blue ball (haha) the more illusion of distance it seems to create, like it's leaving your peripheral vision.
